AVON Mocha Latte Quad Eyeshadow - Review

This is my favourite makeup must have. I have had it since forever and a day and yes, it has lasted. The packaging is very stylish and the and there are 2 matte shades and 2 with a slight shimmer. The colours are perfect to create different looks, from soft natural to darker bold, but not too bold. I find these the perfect shades for autumn, especially for everyday wear.

Another little makeup trick is I use it to do contouring as well, using the lightest shade as a highlighter and the second lightest shade to contour with. I also use the darkest shade in the palette to fill in my brows. This is looks more natural and not as harsh as using a pencil.

The best part of it is the price, regular price is R136 but you can get it on special for as little as R90, which suits my pocket just fine.

In short I absolutely love this palette and to top it all off, Avon has so many other shades that I cannot wait to try out.

Revlon Photoready Eyeshadow

As a makeup artist and confessed selfie addict, I need good quality makeup that is pigmented enough to show up clearly on my photo's. This is always a challenge, when you can't afford the really good quality stuff.

Revlon Photoready Eyeshadow, promises to do that and so much more. Each pallette contains 3 highly pigmented eyeshadows and a sparkle top coat. I know, that matte finish makeup is the in thing, but I just love to shimmer :)

My only problem is that are just too colours many to choose from, I can't seem to make up my mind!

Whereas, I am always also looking out for a bargain, and admittedly would not normally pay R200 for such a small palette, but it's most definitely on my wishlist and 'musthaves', to take my makeup hopefully to the next level!

How photo ready are you?

Make-up removal products are great, especially makeup wipes, so easy. No mess, no fuss convenience, but if you wear makeup daily, it can sometimes be A BIT HARSH ON THE SKIN. Either leaving it too dry, or causing the skin to overproduce oils, because all the natural oils have been removed.

Here are few natural remedies, that will bring your skin back to it’s beautiful, glowing and healthy state

Natural Oils:
You can use olive oil as well as coconut oil. They are both very good at removing even the toughest mascara, yet being chemical free is very gentle on the skin. They also help replenish the skin’s natural oils that have been lost due to over cleansing.

Milk:
For thousands of years, milk baths have been a very popular part of the beauty regimen for royalty. Imagine that! Well that may be a bit too pricey for me and probably you as well, milk can used a natural make-up remover. Add a tablespoon of almond oil to a bowl of full cream milk and rub all over your face with a cloth or cotton pad. It should remove all the makeup, leaving you skin clean and fresh.

Cucumber:

When it comes to beauty and skin care, my motto is if it’s good for consumption, it must be good for my skin. Nothing is more true to this statement than cucumber. I love the fresh refreshing taste and fragrance and nothing could be better for your skin Cucumbers have anti-inflammatory properties, so they will help soothe irritated skin. You can blend a whole cucumber into a past, and use as a cleanser and makeup remover. For the hard to remove makeup, just add a little olive oil to the mixture.

Ponds Perfect Colour Complex Naturals Review

Admittedly, I never really had a skin care regimen. In fact, I probably didn't really understand the importance of it. Partly because I never really had major skin problems and because, honestly I am a bit lazy. Also being forever broke, I really can't afford any fancy expensive stuff.

Whilst doing my makeup course I learnt about the importance of s good skin care regimen, and being obviously broke I opted for something very affordable. Enter - Ponds Colour Complex Naturals!

What drew me to it was that for all three products, cleanser, toner and face cream it cost less than R100.

Also, it is part of their naturals range, containing green tea extracts. Which I figured would be good for my skin.

So far I am very happy with this product. I like the packaging, the fragrance is nice and fresh. The cleanser is quite gentle for a foam cleanser. As you know foam cleansers can be a bit harsh and leaves your skin feeling tight. As I have dry skin, I would prefer a more gentle milk or cream cleanser, but honestly I have no complaints with this product.

The toner works very well, I always notice the excess dirt coming off and also removes the excess cleanser.

The face day cream moisturisers gently, with the added benefit of UV protection and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking smoother.

I have been using these products for the past month and I am very pleased with the results.

Operation Bag Removal!

As we journey through life we tend to gather theoretical "baggage". And it seems that as we grow older, that theoretical "baggage" can manifest itself in a physical form.

What am I rambling on about? The bag(gage) of course that has started to develop under my eyes!

Yes folks, much to my horror, I have discovered that I have bags! Not Gucci or Louis Vuitton, but hideous sagging blueish brown bags under my eyes! (My daughter thinks I'm over exaggerating and being a bit melodramatic, as usual.....but judge for yourself. See pic below, but be warned, not for sensitive viewers!)

I know that over the years I have taken for granted that I have been blessed with good skin, and now in my mid thirties have realised , as I see little wrinkles, crows feet and now bags forming, that I need to take better care of my skin.

So I have decided to find the trick, cream or beauty hack that will forever remove my bags. Any tips and advice is much appreciated, in fact I do request it!

I will be posting the results of all the methods and am hopeful in my quest!

Let OPERATION BAG REMOVAL commence!

Makeup Mishap

What started out as a makeup mishap, turned into a popping eye sensation! If I do say so myself :)

So, I had planned to do a fabulous winged tipped liner, using my black shimmer eye-shadow and an angled brush. Now I know, that one should use a liquid liner, but I wanted something a little softer, but still dramatic.

Well, I realised that I had drawn the winged tip too low and attempted to draw another one, without removing the incorrect one. I then noticed that it looked like I was drawing in eyelashes, similar to doll makeup and since it was with an eye-shadow, it was not too harsh. In fact as I continued making lines, it looked as if my lashes were creating the shadow.

So naturally I did the same on the other eye, and I love the final result :)

I finished the look off with a white/gold shimmer eye-shadow on the lid, contouring makeup in the crease of the eye, loads of mascara, soft blush and nude lip.

I would love to hear from you and how you changed a makeup mishap into something fab :)
